Woods Beats McIlroy in Turkey

Tiger Woods shot a 7-under 64 to beat No. 1-ranked Rory McIlroy by six strokes Thursday morning at the Turkish Airlines World Golf Final. It was the third straight loss by the Northern Irishman, who's been eliminated from the $5.2-million, eight-player exhibition at Atalya Golf Club.

The winner will earn $1.5 million, with the last-place player taking home a cool $300,000. The format is medal match play, with the winner of the individual matches having a lower score than his competitor.

Woods now advances to the semifinals and will face a red-hot Justin Rose, who shot a course-record 62 to beat Webb Simpson, who posted a 67.

The other semifinal will feature Charl Schwartzel against Lee Westwood. Schwartzel shot a 63 to Matt Kuchar's 65, while Westwood had a 64 to Hunter Mahan's 69.

"I felt good today," Woods told Sky Sports. "Really, really hit it good. I missed quite a few putts out there too, which is really interesting, because it could have been a real low number. But it's good to advance this afternoon."

McIlroy wasn't that upset about being finished in the tournament. "I'm not that disappointed because I've got the afternoon off around the pool," he said. The Northern Irishman was cheered on by his girlfriend, tennis player Caroline Wozniacki.
