2014 PGA Tour Campaign Starts in Hawaii

Though it's lost its spot as the traditional season opener on the PGA Tour, the Hyundai Tournament of Champions still heralds the start of the golf year for many. The $5.7 million event begins Friday at the Plantation Course at Kapalua on Maui, Hi.

For the first time ever the PGA Tour shifted its opening event of the season from January to October and the Frys.com Open. Since then there's been six full-field events in the newly reconfigured 2013-14 schedule.

Jimmy Walker and Ryan Moore, who are both in the Tournament of Champions - which includes only the 30 winners from the previous year, are atop the FedEx Cup and money list standings, respectively, this young season. Both are in the field at Kapalua.

Also on hand is defending champion Dustin Johnson. The field will be played in twosomes, with Johnson paired with Adam Scott, the 2013 Masters champion who was named on Thursday as the Player of the Year by the Golf Writers Association of America in a narrow vote over Tiger Woods (who's not entered this week).

The Tournament of Champions tees off at 10:30 (local time). For all the pairings, visit http://www.pgatour.com/tournaments/hyundai-tournament-of-champions/tee-times.html.
