Another Change at the Top in Women's Golf


Cristie Kerr didn't hold the No. 1-ranked position in women's golf for long. Jiyai Shin of South Korea has unseated the American once again to reclaim the top ranking.

After she tied for fourth in the LPGA Hana Bank Championship in South Korea and Kerr finished three shots back and tied for 12th, Shin retook the top spot.

Kerr had taken over the No. 1 position from Japan's Ai Miyazato last week, so the situation is still quite fluid with two events left on the 2010 calendar.

Eight players in the top 10 changed places this week. Shin has a rankings point average of 10.86 while Kerr is at 10.64. Suzann Pettersen (10.52) moved up to No. 3 and Miyazato (10.50) is fourth.

Na Yeon Choi, who successfully defended her title in the Hana Bank Championship, is now fifth with a 10.38 average, while Yani Tseng (10.14) dropped to sixth.

Michelle Wie (7.92) and Song-Hee Kim (7.67), who finished third in South Korea, retained the seventh and eighth places, respectively. Paula Creamer (7.35) switched places with In-Kyung Kim (7.22) in ninth after being 10th a week ago.
