Back9Network Names Paul Pendergast Chief Development Officer
November 5, 2012. Back9Network, the new sports-lifestyle television and media network for golf fans who want to do more than follow the leaderboard, has announced that Paul Pendergast is the new Chief Development Officer. Pendergast joins Back9Network from the University of Connecticut, where he most recently served as Director of Institutional Advancement.
Pendergast also served as Interim Athletic Director at UConn, President of the Saint Francis Foundation and Senior Vice President of Development for Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford, Conn. Before leading Saint Francis, he served as the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Development at UConn. During this time, Pendergast was responsible for growing the division's donor base during the university's rise to national prominence.
From 1968 until his retirement in 1998, prior to joining UConn, Pendergast held various managerial and executive-level sales and marketing positions with the IBM Corporation and its affiliates, both domestically and abroad.
"We are honored that Paul has chosen to join the Back9Network team," said James Bosworth, founder and CEO, Back9Network. "Paul is among the most respected development executives in the nation and his expertise and relationships will be an enormous asset as we build Back9Network into a premier pay television network."
"During my years at UConn and previously at IBM, I had the good fortune of being part of exciting, transformative periods filled with enormous growth," said Pendergast. "Back9Network has the opportunity to make a similar impact on the game of golf as we share the stories of the compelling people, places and things that surround the game and fuel the passion of golf fans worldwide."
A 1968 graduate of Grove City (Pa.) College, Pendergast is active with many community nonprofit boards and committees in the greater Hartford area, including the Hartford Symphony Orchestra; the Mark Twain Museum; Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce; Ray of Hope Foundation (founded by the Miami Heat's Ray Allen); Northwest Catholic High School; Mandell Jewish Community Center; and the Travelers Championship.
Back9Network, which made its online debut in 2012, is focused on all the things golf fans love about the game. Back9Network recently broke ground on its state-of the-art TV studio and video production facility in downtown Hartford, which is quickly becoming the sports media capital of the world with ESPN, NBC Sports and YES Network also based in the state.
Back9Network plans to launch its TV programming lineup via cable and satellite in the first half of 2013.
