Ben Hogan 'Watch' List Released

The Colonial Country Club, The Friends of Golf (FOG) and the Golf Coaches Association of America have announced the list of 24 collegiate golfers named to the 2015 Ben Hogan Award Watch List. The group includes No. 1-ranked Cheng-Tsung Pan, a senior at the University of Washington.

Pan becomes the first player in the award's history to be named to the watch list four times. He is a three-time semifinalist and can make it four when the honorees are announced in April.

The Miaoli County, Taiwan, native is putting up a historic season so far for the Huskies, winning three times on his way to be the No. 1 ranked collegiate player by both Golfweek and Golfstat. Pan has won the Amer Ari Invitational in Hawaii, the Querencia Cabo Collegiate in Mexico and the Lamkin San Diego Classic in California. He also has a second and a third on the season that he has competed in just six collegiate tournaments.

Pan missed the first couple Washington tournaments while competing in the Asian Games for Taiwan, winning a pair of gold medals, both as the individual champion and leading his country to the team title.

Pan will look to become the third Husky to win the Hogan Award, the most prestigious in college golf, in the past six years, joining Nick Taylor in 2010 and Chris Williams in 2013.

The 23 other players on the watch list are Jimmy Beck (Kennesaw State), Brian Campbell (Illinois), Charlie Danielson (Illinois), Bryson Dechambeau (SMU), Thomas Detry (Illinois), Matt Gilchrest (Auburn), Gavin Green (New Mexico), Rico Hoey (Southern California), Beau Hossler (Texas), Kyle Jones (Baylor), Jack Maguire (Florida State), Denny McCarthy (Virginia), Lee McCoy (Georgia), Maverick McNealy (Stanford), Jon Rahm (Arizona State), Max Rotluff (Arizona State), Xander Schauffele (San Diego State), Ollie Schniederjans (Georgia Tech), Robby Shelton (Alabama), Clement Sordet (Texas Tech), Hunter Stewart (Vanderbilt), Scott Vincent (Virginia Tech) and Will Zalatoris (Wake Forest).

The list of 10 semifinalists, which could include individuals not on the current list, will be unveiled Wednesday, April 15. On Wednesday, May 6, that group will be pared down to three finalists. The winner will be crowned at a black-tie banquet at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, on Monday, May 18, prior to the start of the PGA Tour's Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial.
