Bowditch Soars at AT&T Byron Nelson

Steven Bowditch left nothing to chance Sunday at the $7.1 million AT&T Byron Nelson. The 31-year-old, Australian-born and resident of Texas for the past 10 years closed with a 5-under 64 at the TPC Four Seasons Resort course to finish at 18-under 259, four strokes ahead of three players.

Bowditch carded seven birdies and three bogeys on the course, which had been abbreviated from a par of 70 to 69 when flooding forced Tour officials to convert the par-4 14th into a par-3. On Sunday the weather was warm and sunny, the first day that happened after the tournament endured various delays caused by heavy rains.

The locale for Bowditch's second title was fitting: he and his wife Amanda were married on the 18th hole at TPC Four Seasons Resort. "This is a pretty special place for me and my wife," he said during a brief TV interview.

The victory was worth $1.278 million and 500 FedEx Cup points and gave Bowditch his first victory since last year's Valero Texas Open.

Tied for second at 263 were Charley Hoffman (65), Jimmy Walker (66) and Scott Pinkney (66). Zach Johnson (63) ended up in fifth place, while sharing sixth at 265 were Brandt Snedeker (64) and Jon Curran (68).

Dallas native and reigning Masters' champion Jordan Spieth, the top-ranked player in the field at No. 2 in the world, closed with an even-par 69 to end up tied for 30th at 270.
