Mark Calcavecchia carded four birdies and a bogey for a closing 3-under 69 to win the Principal Charity Classic. The $1.75 million, 54-hole Champions Tour event was held at Wakonda Club in Des Moines, Iowa.
Calcavecchia, a 54-year-old Nebraska native who now lives in Florida, finished at 12-under 204, a stroke clear of Brian Henninger (68) and Joe Durant (69). Canada's Rod Spittle shot a 68 to end up in fourth at 206.
The victory, worth $262,500, was the third for Calcavecchia on the over-50 circuit and his first since the 2012 Montreal Championship.
Sharing fifth at 207 were defending champion Tom Pernice Jr. (66), John Cook (68), Davis Love III (68), Jeff Maggert (69) and Paul Goydos (70).
