Champions Tour Schedule Adds Three New Events

The Champions Tour will add three new events in 2013, bringing the total to 26 tournaments. The new tournaments will take place in Atlanta, Chicago and Calgary.

The over-50 circuit will visit 16 different states throughout the U.S., two Canadian provinces, and one in England. Next year's season will mark the first time since 2009 that at least 26 official tournaments are on the schedule.

The season starts in mid-January on the big island of Hawaii with the Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai. The Tour then ventures to Florida in early February for the Allianz Championship.

In the week after the Masters in April, the first new tournament - the Greater Gwinnett Championship - will be held at TPC Sugarloaf in Georgia. North Shore Country Club outside Chicago will host the Encompass Championship from June 21-23.

The third new event - the Calgary Golf Classic - takes place at Canyon Meadows Golf Club from August 30- September 1. The Montreal Championship in Quebec is next, making for back-to-back tournaments in Canada.

The Champions Tour's five majors will be bunched between late May and late July. To be held May 23-26 at Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis, the Senior PGA Championship starts the 2013 major season followed by the Regions Championship two weeks later at Shoal Creek in Alabama.

Three weeks later, Fox Chapel Golf Club in Pittsburgh will host the Senior Players Championship. The U.S. Senior Open will be held July 11-14 at Omaha Country Club in Nebraska, with the Senior British Open two weeks after at Royal Birkdale.

Other changes in the 2013 Champions Tour schedule include the Principal Charity Classic (May 27-June 2) in Des Moines, Iowa, relocating from Glen Oaks Country Club to the Wakonda Club. Also, the Nature Valley First Tee Open at Pebble Beach (September 23-29) returns to its fall date after being played during the Fourth of July week the past two years.

The season will conclude with the Charles Schwab Cup Championship October 28-November 3. That year-ending tournament will be moving from the Cochise Course at Desert Mountain Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. back to TPC Harding Park in San Francisco, where it was played in 2010 and '11.
