Clark Takes Home Canadian Open Title

Tim Clark carded five birdies on the back nine to overtake 54-hole leader Jim Furyk and win the Canadian Open. The Tour's $5.7 million PGA Tour event took place on the Blue Course at Royal Montreal Golf Club

Clark closed with a 5-under 65 to finish at 17-under 263, a stroke ahead of Furyk, who was seeking to become a three-time winner in Canada's national golf championship. The 44-year-old finished with a 69.

Furyk began the final round with a three-stroke lead, with Clark in second. But on a rainy day in Quebec, the 38-year-old South African was not going to be denied thanks to his back-nine birdie stretch.

Furyk now has the dubious distinction of going 0 for 7 with the 54-hole lead since winning the 2010 Tour Championship, the last of his 16 PGA Tour titles.

For Clark, the win was his second on Tour following his title in the 2010 Players Championship. The latest victory is worth $1.026 million.

American Justin Hicks ended up in third at 267 following a 64, while sharing fourth at 11-under were Matt Kuchar (65), Michael Putnam (66) and Spaniard Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano (66).

The highest-finishing Canadian was Graham DeLaet, who posted a 68 to tie for seventh at 10-under with and Dicky Pride, who matched the course record of 63.
