Creamer Two Up in Kingsmill Championship


Paula Creamer fired Saturday's low round, a 6-under 65, to take the lead through 54 holes of the Kingsmill Championship. The $1.3 million, 72-hole LPGA Tour event began Thursday on the River Course at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Va.

The 26-year-old Californian posted three birdies on the front nine and three more on the back to reach 16-under 197, two shots ahead of second-round leader Jiyai Shin (69) and four ahead of Dutchwoman Dewi Claire Schreefel (69) and American Danielle Kang (70).

Creamer, a nine-time LPGA winner, hasn't notched a victory since the 2010 U.S. Women's Open, which was also the last time she had a lead entering the final round of a tournament.

Sharing fifth at 202 are Japan's Ai Miyazato (67), American Stacy Lewis (68) and Spain's Azahara Munoz (69). Another stroke back are Scotland's Catriona Matthew (66) and South Korean Hee Young Park (67).

Sharing 10th at 204 are Americans Gerina Piller (68) and Jennifer Song (69) and South Korea's Chella Choi (69).

Lexi Thompson began the day only two strokes behind Shin but shot a 1-over 72 to drop into a tie for 13th at 8-under 205.
