DJ Wins St. Jude Classic

Dustin Johnson has returned to the winner's circle. The 27-year-old South Carolinian closed with a 4-under 66 to take home the title in the FedEx St. Jude Classic. The victory, worth $1.008 million and 500 FedEx Cup points, was the sixth of his career.

Johnson had three birdies and bogey to card a 2-under 33 on the front nine, then closed out the tournament in style with birdies on the final two holes to finish at 9-under 271, edging John Merrick (68) by a stroke.

Johnson had endured a lengthy layoff earlier in the season due to a back injury. So he was happy with how things turned out Sunday. "It feels really good., especially having so much time off, coming back," said Johnson. "You know, last week helped a lot competing and getting back in the groove of things. And then, you know, I came out this week and I really -- I just played well all week."

Sharing third at 273 were Ryan Palmer (66), Chad Campbell (68), Nick O'Hern (69) and Davis Love III (69).

No. 2-ranked Rory McIlroy had it going earlier in Sunday's final round. He went out in 3-under 32, but closed with two birdies, two bogeys and double on the par-4 closing at TPC Southwind in Memphis.

"It was a bad swing at the wrong time," said McIlroy, who found water off the tee on the last hole. "Overall, it's been a decent week. Looking forward to getting to San Francisco and I can take a lot from this week into next week."
