Lauren Diaz-Yi, a 17-year-old from Thousand Oaks, Calif., who defeated medalist Yumi Matsubara of Japan in the second round of match play, lost 4 and 3 to Doris Chen of Chinese Taipei on Friday to fall out of the U.S. Women's Amateur at the Country Club of Charleston in South Carolina

Alison Lee of Valencia, Calif., beat Katelyn Sepmoree of Tyler, Texas, 4 and 3, and will square off against Emma Talley of Princeton, Ky., who needed 19 holes to defeat Su-Hyun Oh of Australia.
