Gulyanamitta Wins LPGA Q School

Former Purdue golfer Numa Gulyanamitta won the 90-hole LPGA Qualifying School. The 23-year-old from Thailand closed with a 4-under 68 in windy, wet conditions at LPGA International's Champions Course in Daytona Beach, Fla., to finish at 10-under 350.

Gulyanamitta ended up two strokes ahead of Christine Song, who led after 72 holes but shot a 2-over 74 on Sunday. Jennie Lee finished six strokes behind the winner, who earned $5,000 in addition to her LPGA card.

"It feels good, I finally have my own tour to play, I have tournaments to play," Gulyanamitta said. "It's a good feeling to accomplish my goal. Now I have my card to play on the LPGA."

The best round of the day among all the 76 players who made it to the final round was a 5-under 67 by Rebecca Lee-Bentham, which took her into a tie for ninth.

The top 20 players earn full LPGA membership next year. Lizette Salas of Azusa, Calif., and a four-time All-American at Southern California, birdied all three holes in a nine-player playoff for the final spot.

"This means the world to me," said the 22-year-old Salas. "I'm just relieved and so excited."
