Haas Fires 66 to Take AT&T National


Bill Haas closed with a 5-under 66 to win the AT&T National. The $6.5 million PGA Tour invitational took place at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Md.

Haas posted six birdies and a bogey Sunday en route to totaling 12-under 272, three shots ahead of Roberto Castro (69) and four ahead of South Korea's D.H. Lee, who posted the tournament's low final round, a 7-under 64, and Jason Kokrak (69).

Ending up in solo fifth at 277 was Stewart Cink, who shot a 67. Another stroke back was Jordan Spieth (69).

The win was worth $1.17 million and 500 FedEx Cup points for Haas, who began the final round sharing the lead with Castro, James Driscoll and Andres Romero.

Driscoll closed with a 3-over 74 to drop into a tie for eighth at 280 with England's Brian Davis (67), Canada's Graham DeLaet (69), Morgan Hoffman (70) and Brandt Snedeker (71).

Romero had a 75 to fall into a share of 13th at 281 with fellow Argentine Angel Cabrera (69) and American Brendon Todd (72).

Haas, the son of PGA Tour veteran and current Champions Tour mainstay Jay Haas, has now racked up five PGA Tour titles of his own. He won twice in 2010, took the 2011 Tour Championship and the FedEx Cup, won last year's Northern Trust Open, and now adds the AT&T National to his budding resume.

Defending champion Tiger Woods is not entered this week as he's recovering from an injury to his left elbow. Proceeds from the tournament benefit the college-access programs of the Tiger Woods Foundation.
