Head of Tiger Woods Foundation Leaving for PGA Tour


Greg McLaughlin, the CEO and president of the Tiger Woods Foundation, is leaving the nonprofit organization to go to work for the PGA Tour.

The news was delivered Tuesday in a tweet by the foundation's namesake. "I first met Greg McLaughlin back in 1991. The next year, he played a big part in my first-ever exemption to play on the PGA Tour at the Nissan Open at Riviera," Woods' statement.

"Over the years and about 10,000 sports trivia questions later, our friendship grew as he went on to become the president and CEO of my Foundation. Although he's decided to move on to the PGA Tour, I'm so thankful for the leadership and good times he's provided over the last 14 years."

Though McLaughlin's position with the Tour hasn't been defined or identified, he said he was leaving the foundation "to accept an executive leadership position."

Added McLaughlin, who before joining the Tiger Woods Foundation in 2000 was a tournament director for multiple PGA Tour events, "I've been close with Tiger and his family for more than 20 years, and we remain close. I am grateful for their ongoing support.

"I have enjoyed my 14 years with the Tiger Woods Foundation, including the creation of seven Tiger Woods Learning Centers, a national scholarship program and three PGA Tour golf tournaments.

"I am extremely proud of this work and the incredible staff and Board of Directors who helped make it all happen. Although I will remain involved with the Tiger Woods Foundation, I am looking forward to joining the PGA Tour and expanding on my 25 years in golf."
