Jimenez Maintains Lead in Greater Gwinnett Championship

Though he wasn't nearly as torrid as in the first round when he fired a 7-under 65 to take a three-stroke lead in the Greater Gwinnett Championship in his Champions Tour debut, Miguel Angel Jimenez remains atop the leaderboard in the $1.8 million, 54-hole event at TPC Sugarloaf in Duluth, Ga.

The pony-tailed Spaniard, who turned 50 in January, carded a 2-under 70 to reach 9-under 135 and heads into Sunday's final round with a one-stroke edge over defending champion Bernhard Langer, who carded a 68.

Also shooting 68 was Fred Couples, who's alone in third at 7-under 137, while four behind Jimenez are Taiwan's Chien Soon Lu (68) and Americans Jay Haas (68), Duffy Waldorf (68), Kenny Perry (71) and Steve Pate (71).

South Africa's David Frost (68) and Marco Dawson (69) of the U.S. are tied for ninth at 140.

Sunday's second round was played in periodic showers and temperatures in the low-60s; the scores reflected the conditions. Sunday's forecast is for mostly sunny and temps in the low-70s.
