Koepka Remains on Top at Frys.com Open

Brooks Koepka will head into the final round of the $5 million Frys.com Open with a two-stroke lead after carding his second 4-under 67 at CordeValle Golf Club in San Martin, Calif.

The 23-year-old Floridian, who's sandwiched those two 67s with a 64, posted six birdies and two bogeys Saturday to reach a 15-under 198 total, two shots ahead of George McNeill and Jason Kokrak, who had a course-record-tying 62 and 68, respectively.

Koepka, who's in the tournament - the 2013-14 season opener on the PGA Tour - on a sponsor's exemption, has been playing on the Challenge and European tours and doesn't have status on the PGA Tour. Nonetheless, he feels ready for a win in the States.

"The Challenge Tour prepared me pretty well," he told reporters. "Learning how to win is a big deal." A victory Sunday will give him a two-year PGA Tour exemption and allow him to play regularly in the U.S.

In perfect conditions during the third round, Koepka continued to press the pedal to the metal. "I don't think you can play overly aggressive," he added. You can't play not to lose either; it's conservatively aggressive."

McNeill's 10-under round was matched by Jimmy Walker, who moved into a tie for fourth with Vijay Singh (65) and Robert Garrigus (68).

Will MacKenzie (64), former University of California star Max Homa (66), Ben Martin (66), Ryu Ishikawa (67) and Jim Herman (70) are tied for seventh at 10-under 203. Homa is making his pro debut and is playing on a sponsor's exemption.

After making the cut by a stroke, defending champion Jonas Blixt of Sweden posted a 69 Saturday and is now tied for 52nd at 3-under 210.
