Lee Cards 64 to Lead Mizuno Classic


South Korean Bo-mee Lee fired an 8-under 64 to forge a four-shot lead in the $1.2 million Mizuno Classic. The 54-hole tournament began Friday at Kintetsu Kashikojima Country Club in Shima, Japan.

Lee, who plays on the Korean Tour, posted four birdies on the front nine and four more on the back to reach 10-under 134, four strokes ahead of Japan's Rikako Morita (68).

Lee attributed her score - the lowest of the tournament so far - to accuracy off the tee. "My drives were good today, I was able to keep them on the fairway which was tough with this wind," Lee said. "If I can keep driving and putting like this I feel good about my chances tomorrow."

Sharing third at 140 are and Koreans Jenny Shin (69) and Na Yeon Choi (71), France's Karine Icher (69), American Angela Stanford (71) and Japan's Ayako Uehara, who started the second round tied for the lead with South Korea's Jiyai Shin after both shot 68s Friday.

Uehara posted an even-par 72, while Shin fell into a share of eighth at 141 after a 73.

Also at 141 are Ilhee Lee (68), Junko Omote (68), Eun-Hee Ji (70), top-ranked Yani Tseng (70), No. 2-ranked Stacy Lewis (70), defending champion Momoko Ueda (72) and Yumiko Yoshida (71).
