Luiten Leads Irish Open
The Netherlands' Joost Luiten fired a 6-under 66 to take a one-stroke lead heading into the final round of the Irish Open. The European Tour event is taking place at Carton House Golf Club in County Kildare.
Luiten, a 27-year-old with two wins on the European Tour, carded three birdies on the front nine and three more on the back to reach 13-under 203, a shot ahead of Spain's Pablo Larrazabal, who also had a 66, and three in front of 36-hole co-leader Robert Rock of England, who had a 71.
"It was good to day - a round in this wind with no bogeys is always good," said Luiten. "It looks like I'm playing good, playing consistently. I don't make a lot of silly mistakes, the game feels good."
England's Paul Casey had a 67 to rise into a share of fourth with Scotland's Scott Henry (69), while another stroke back are Spaniards Alvaro Quiros (68) and Jose Maria Olazabal (71), Scotland's Peter Whiteford (69), Portugal's Ricardo Santos (71), Frenchman Raphael Jacquelin (70) and Swede Oscar Floren (71).
Rock's fellow co-leader entering play Saturday, American Peter Uihlein, stumbled to a 2-over 74 and is tied for 12th at 209 with five other players.
