Nordqvist Takes ShopRite Classic


While 36-hole leader Morgan Pressel struggled, Anna Nordqvist carded a 2-under 69 to win the ShopRite Classic. The 54-hole LPGA Tour event took place at the Bay Course at Stockton Seaview Hotel and Golf Resort in Galloway Township, N.J.

Nordqvist, a 27-year-old Swede, posted five birdies and three bogeys to finish at 8-under 205, a stroke ahead of the Netherlands' Christel Boeljon (68) and three ahead of Americans Kelly Shon and Pressel.

Shon carded a 70 and Pressel, who led after the first two rounds, had a disappointing 73. Pressel was looking for her first title since 2008.

The victory for Nordqvist was the fifth of her career and her first since the Kia Classic in March 2014. She earned $225,000.

Sharing fifth at 209 were Americans Austin Ernst and Gerina Piller, Australia's Karrie Webb and South Koreans Inbee Park and Mirim Lee.
