Park Wins Again on LPGA Tour
South Korea's Inbee Park solidified her position as the No. 1-ranked female golfer in the world by closing with a 4-under 67 to win the North Texas Shootout. The $1.3 million, 72-hole event was held at Las Colinas Country Club in Irving, Texas.
On Sunday, the 23-year-from Seoul overcame a two-shot deficit to 54-hole leader Carlota Ciganda of Spain, posting a birdie on the par-5 closing hole to finish at 13-under 271, one stroke ahead of Ciganda, who shot a 70.
Searching for her first win, Ciganda, a 22-year-old from Pamplona, also birdied the 18th hole at Las Colinas but couldn't overcome a bogey on the 14th and a double-bogey on the par-4 15th.
The victory was Park's third of the year; her earlier wins came in February's Honda LPGA Classic and the Kraft Nabisco Championship - her second career major - three weeks ago.
Norway's Suzann Pettersen, the winner of last week's Lotte Championship in Hawaii, carded a 6-under 66 to take solo third at 274, while Hee Young Park fired the low round of the day, a 7-under 64, to share fifth with fellow South Korean, So Yeon Ryu (68), at 275.
Another South Korean, I.K. Kim, had a 68 for solo sixth at 276, while tied for seventh at 277 was the highest-finishing American, Stacy Lewis (66), China's Shanshan Feng (69), France's Karine Icher (70), and South Korea's Na Yeon Choi (72).
Paula Creamer (67) rallied from an opening 73 with rounds of 69, 69 and 67 to tie for 11th at 278 with fellow Americans Cristie Kerr (68) and Christina Kim (71), and the Netherlands' Dewi Claire Schreffel (68).
Germany's Caroline Masson was in contention until the final round. The LPGA rookie, who took the first-round lead with a 64, shot a 4-over 75 Sunday to drop into a tie for 15th at 5-under 279 with Italy's Giulia Sergas (66) and American Mo Martin (68).
