Plans Unveiled for Links at Brunello in Nova Scotia
Canadian golf course architect Tom McBroom was in Halifax on Tuesday to reveal designs for his latest project: The Links at Brunello, a new golf course in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
This 7,100-yard, 18-hole layout is located off of Highway 103 (Exit 3), a 15-minute drive from the city's downtown, and will be the centerpiece of Halifax's newest community, Brunello Estates.
"This course boasts stunning vistas and unexpected views, and is laid out on dramatic terrain that enables us to give golfers the 'wow' they're looking for," said McBroom. "It's built on a grand scale, but is gorgeous and playable - designed for every class of player to enjoy and have fun on."
The Links at Brunello is anticipated to be ready for play by June 2015. "I hope that the golf community in Halifax and beyond will enjoy playing this course as much as I've enjoyed designing it. It is a true golf course, offering a great golf experience within the context of a residential community," added McBroom.
McBroom joined the development team at Brunello Estates as an advisor on the course and has been working closely with CEO Rob Dexter and his team since 2008. "We are thrilled to have been able to partner with Tom McBroom. His caliber of talent as a course designer has allowed us to add 'great golf experience' to the many offerings in this unique community," says Dexter.
Brunello Estates (http://www.brunelloestates.com) occupies more than 500 acres of rolling, wooded landscape. Its 3,200 residences will comprise single-family homes, townhouses and apartments. In addition to the course, the community will include business amenities, shops, restaurants, and a full-service community center surrounded by tennis courts, a skating rink, boat launch and nature trails. Forty-eight percent of the development is dedicated to open space. Since construction began in summer 2011, more than 60 percent of the community's phase one has been sold and 52 homes have been built.
McBroom is recognized across Canada and internationally as a designer of premier golf courses. He is known in the Atlantic Provinces for his major contributions to prominent local courses such as Crowbush, Algonquin, Green Gables and Bell Bay.
