‘Snap Hook’ by John Corrigan

By: Dr. John Wagner

I have decided at my age to set up guidelines for book reviewing. If the author does not grab me with a plot or character involvement in 25 to 35 pages, then I am not going to read the book.

Many times I look for a plot to evolve and sometimes it never happens. So why waste my time on a bad read? I love to read and there are too many good books out there that merit my time.

Having said that, let me talk about “Snap Hook” by John Corrigan. I’m giving it a slice out of bounds. In the first 35 pages the plot is absurd and the characters totally unbelievable. As if a tour pro would hire a totally untrained young person to be his caddie for the summer. As if a guy could rip $24 million off the Russian mafia and get away with it. No thanks on this one.

‘Snap Hook’ by John Corrigan, University Press of New England, 2004, $19.95 (hardcover), ISBN-1-58465-332-9.
