Three Tied for Top Spot in Travelers Championship


Bubba Watson has been joined by two other players atop the leaderboard after 54 holes of the Travelers Championship.

Watson, who began the third round with a two-stroke margin over Patrick Reed and Padraig Harrington, carded an even-par 70 to stay at 10-under par in the $6.1 million PGA Tour at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Conn.

Canada's Graham DeLaet shot a 5-under 65 and first-round leader Charley Hoffman a 66 to join the 2012 Masters champion at 200.

Watson led for most of Saturday thanks to three birdies on the front nine. But after making the turn in 3-under 32, the 34-year-old from Bagdad, Fla., only managed three bogeys the rest of the way.

Sitting only a stroke back heading into Sunday are Chris Stroud (66) and left-handed Aussie Nick O'Hern, who shot a 68. Alone in sixth at 202 is Ken Duke, whose 65 matched DeLaet and Jeff Maggert for Saturday's low round.

Only three behind the leaders are Richard H. Lee (66), Nicholas Thompson (66), Jim Herman (67), J.J. Henry (68), Hunter Mahan (70) and Tommy Gainey (70). Newly-crowned U.S. Open champion Justin Rose carded his second straight 68 to also take a share of seventh at 7-under 203.

Tied for 14th at 204 are Ryan Moore (66), Travelers defending champion Marc Leishman (68), Harrington (72), Tag Ridings (71) and amateur Justin Thomas. The University of Alabama player impressively fired his second consecutive 66.

Reed, who carded two straight 66s to start the Travelers, slipped to a 3-over 73 and is now tied for 19th at 205 with Maggert, England's Brian Davis (66), Morgan Hoffman (66), Scotland's Russell Knox (69) and Aussie Stuart Appleby (69).

Chris Williams, the former University of Washington All-American and 2013 Ben Hogan Award winner who turned pro last week, shot a 69 and now sits at 2-under 208.
