Tiger to Play in Masters

Tiger Woods will be entered in next week's Masters. The four-time winner of the year's first major made the announcement on his website Friday.

"I'm playing in the Masters," Woods said. "It's obviously very important to me, and I want to be there. I've worked a lot on my game and I'm looking forward to competing. I'm excited to get to Augusta and I appreciate everyone's support."

It will be Woods' first competition in two months.

Woods played several practice rounds this week at Augusta National Golf Club. On Friday, he was accompanied by Jeff Knox, an Augusta National member and the official marker for the club.

Woods hasn't played since February. After suffering stiffness in his surgically repaired back, he withdrew on the 12th hole in the first round of the Farmers Insurance Open in San Diego.

On Monday, Woods fell out of the top-100 for the first time since being No. 225 a month after he turned pro in 1996. The latest rankings have the 14-time major winner at No. 104. That's a big fall from when was No. 1 for 683 weeks, the all-time record.

The 39-year-old hasn't won a major since the 2008 U.S. Open at Torrey Pines, and his last Tour victory came at the 2013 Bridgestone Invitational.
