Tiger's Divorce Final

A mere nine months after a single-car accident near his home in Windermere, Fla., and subsequent revelations of extramarital affairs, Tiger Woods and his wife, Elin Nordegren, have signed their divorce papers.

The agreement was finalized Monday in Bay County Circuit Court in Florida; no settlement terms were divulged. According to reports, the two will share joint custody of their two children, daughter Sam Alexis and son Charlie.

A joint statement on Woods's website (www.tigerwoods.com) said: "We are sad that our marriage is over and we wish each other the very best for the future. While we are no longer married, we are the parents of two wonderful children and their happiness has been, and will always be, of paramount importance to both of us. Once we came to the decision that our marriage was at an end, the primary focus of our amicable discussions has been to ensure their future well-being. The weeks and months ahead will not be easy for them as we adjust to a new family situation, which is why our privacy must be a principal concern."

According to the documents, Woods and Nordegren reached a settlement agreement in early July, with Nordegren having her maiden name restored to Elin Maria Pernilla Nordegren.

The divorce culminates Woods's worst season ever on the PGA Tour; in nine tournaments in 2010, he has failed to have a top-three finish. By comparison, every year since 1999 Woods has won at least four events and triumphed in at least one tournament a year since turning pro in 1996.

Woods's next event is this week's Barclays at Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, N.J., the first tournament in the season-ending FedEx Cup Playoffs.
