Tseng Runs Away with Kia Classic

Yani Tseng earned her 15th LPGA title in style Sunday, closing with a 2-under 70 at La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif., to win the 72-hole Kia Classic. Tseng finished at 14-under 274 to earn $255,000.

The 23-year-old from Taiwan ended up six shots ahead of South Korea's Sun Young Yoo - who had a 71 - and seven in front of China's Shanshan Feng (67) and South Korea's Jiyai Shin. Shin, playing in the final group with Tseng, had a 2-over 74.

The win was Tseng's second straight on the LPGA Tour and third in five events in the young 2012 season, further cementing her position as the top-ranked female player in the world. Her earlier wins came in last week's LPGA Founders Cup in Phoenix and the LPGA Thailand in February.

She's the second-youngest player to win 15 LPGA titles; Nancy Lopez was 22 when she reached that mark.

Tseng racked up seven LPGA victories in 2011, including major titles in the LPGA Championship and Women's British Open, and on the year had 12 victories worldwide.
