Williams Returning as Scott's Caddie

At a request from Adam Scott, Steve Williams is coming out of retirement to caddie for the Aussie golfer. In a press release issued Monday, Scott parted ways with the caddie he had hired over the winter, Mike Kerr, and convinced Williams to return for the three remaining majors on the 2015 calendar.

The events Williams will return for are the U.S. Open at Chambers Bay, the Open Championship at the Old Course in St. Andrews, the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone and the PGA Championship. The events stretch from the U.S. Open in mid-June to the PGA at Whistling Straits in mid-August.

When New Zealander Williams left Tiger Woods after working with him between 1999 and 2011, he went to work for Scott, helping the Adelaide native to victory in the 2011 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, a runner-up finish at the 2012 Open Championship, and then the biggest victory of Scott's career, the Masters in 2013.

Williams last worked together with Scott at last year's FedEx Cup Playoffs, after which he retired. Scott said in the release he had to work hard to draw Williams out of retirement.

"Steve was adamant that he was not going to caddie in 2015, so he took some convincing, but I am very happy he's agreed to help out," Scott said in the release. "We've had great success together, so I'm looking forward to being on the links with Steve again."

Scott, a former No. 1, is ranked 12th in the latest World Golf Ranking.
