Yang Drives Away with Honda LPGA Thailand

South Korea's Amy Yang closed with a 3-under 69 to win the Honda LPGA Thailand on Sunday. The event took place at the Siam Country Club's Pattaya Old Course.

The 25-year-old Yang posted five birdies and two bogeys to finish at 15-under 273, two shots ahead of former No. 1s Yani Tseng (67) and Stacy Lewis (72), and Mirim Lee (69).

No. 3-ranked Lewis began the final round with a one-stroke lead. Thanks to three birdies and a bogey through 14 holes, the 30-year-old stayed even with Yang but a double-bogey on the par-4 15th - which Yang birdied - led to the 30-year-old American dropping into a tie for second.

"I was a little bit nervous out there, but I tried to focus on how low I can go today, just focus on my game," said Yang, who pocketed $225,000 with her second career title.

For Tseng, the runner-up was her highest finish since her last win, the Kia Classic in 2012. "I played good, but I missed bunch of putts out there. I was just actually a little nervous out there when I was putting," the 26-year-old from Taiwan said.

Tied for fifth at 276 were Spain's Beatriz Recari, who carded the low round of the day and the year so far on the LPGA Tour, a 9-under 63, and South Korean Sei Young Kim (65). Recari recorded a whopping 11 birdies and two bogeys Sunday.

Sharing seventh at 277 were Norway's Suzann Pettersen (67), South Korea's Inbee Park (65) and Germany's Sandra Gal (72).

Park, the 2013 tournament winner, was the highest-rated player in the field at No. 2. No. 1 Lydia Park took the week off.

Defending champion Anna Nordqvist of Sweden finished with a 69 and tied for 13th at 280.
